Chevrolet Volt begins shipping to Canadian dealerships by Auto123.com |
Kevin Williams, president and managing director for General Motors of Canada, announced that the Chevrolet Volt today began shipping to Canadian dealerships in Vancouver, Victoria, Toronto, Oshawa, Ottawa-Gatineau, Montreal and Quebec City.
Customers in these select Canadian markets who have placed orders since May 2 will take delivery of their car – and laugh at the big oil companies – within days. The Chevrolet Volt is an electric vehicle with extended range that uses a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery pack and electric drive unit to provide a range of 40 to 80 kilometres in optimum conditions. After the battery is depleted, a 1.4-litre engine-generator seamlessly extends the range an additional 500 km by charging the battery on the fly. Prices start at $41,545. Quebec and Ontario customers are eligible to a $8,500 and $8,000 rebate, respectively. Two option packages are available, the first adding premium trim pieces and the second, a rearview camera with parking sensor. GM also said that the Volt will go on sale across the country within twelve months. |
